The Hoppers got on the board early in the game, with Aidan Elias batting in the first run of the night. The Hoppers continued to dominate at the plate, collecting 15 total hits and 13 runs-8 of which came out of the second inning. The Hoppers held their lead until the bitter end (specifically the bottom of the eighth), when the Railroaders came to bat with the score 12-6, and left the inning with 8 runs on four hits. The Hoppers tried to recover, and scored one run in the top of the ninth, but lost by 1.

Sam Traver started on the mound for the Hoppers, and lasted 4 innings-allowing 6 runs on as many hits and striking out three. Traver was followed by Matt Keane, John Keane, MJ Rookard, John Michael Reed, and finally Cody Hartness. Hartness was stuck taking the loss for the Hoppers, surrendering 3 runs on 3 hits over 0.2 of an inning.

 

This loss means that the Hoppers will now be battling for the Western Division Championship title tomorrow evening as they face the Madisonville Miners-be sure to come out and support your Hoppers as they defend their long-held #1 spot!
